Each time I think of our wedding, one song comes to mind --- A Page is Turned by Bebo Norman.
I absolutely love this song and it just so happens it is the song which played as I walked down the aisle.
Here are seven facts about our wedding day:
1. I almost left my dress at my parents house. Since we were married an hour away, that would have been an interesting situation. You know one of those situations where everyone else thought someone else had it. . .yeah, that's what happened.
2. I married a man who was my best friend and is still my best friend.
3. We got married on Tax Day so neither of us would forget. (Okay, so I wouldn't forget.)
4. The preacher told me to calm down in the middle of the ceremony. I may have been slightly bouncing from joy.
5. My sister traveled from India to be at our wedding.
6. I walked down the isle to a song played by a guitar and a song sung by one man. It was amazing. Simple. Us.
7. I had the whitest teeth on earth that day. I asked Brooks what one thing he remembers about our wedding and he replied without hesitation "White Teeth."
Here's to 77 more!
Bebo Norman \ A Page Is Turned
A page is turned by the wind to a boy in curly grin
With a world to conquer at the age of ten
But as history unfolds and the storybook is told
He finds salvation but not at the hands of man
With a world to conquer at the age of ten
But as history unfolds and the storybook is told
He finds salvation but not at the hands of man
And the God of second chance
Picked him up and He let him dance
Through a world that is not kind
And all this time, preparing him, the one
Picked him up and He let him dance
Through a world that is not kind
And all this time, preparing him, the one
To hold him up when he comes undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And now a man, here you stand
Your day has come
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And now a man, here you stand
Your day has come
A page is turned in this world to reveal a little girl
With a heart that's bigger, as it is unfurled
By the language in her soul, that's teaching her to grow
With a careful cover of love that will not fail
With a heart that's bigger, as it is unfurled
By the language in her soul, that's teaching her to grow
With a careful cover of love that will not fail
And the God of second chance
Picked her up and He let her dance
Through a world that isn't kind
And all this time, preparing her the one
Picked her up and He let her dance
Through a world that isn't kind
And all this time, preparing her the one
To hold her up when she comes undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And grown up tall, here you are
Your day has come
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And grown up tall, here you are
Your day has come
Beneath the air of autumn, she took him by his hand
And warm within the ardor, she took his heart instead
And high upon the mountain, he asked her for her hand
Just for her hand
And warm within the ardor, she took his heart instead
And high upon the mountain, he asked her for her hand
Just for her hand
A page is turned in this life, he's making her his wife
And there is no secret to the source of this much life
When the grace that falls like rain is washing them again
Just a chance to somehow rise above this land
And there is no secret to the source of this much life
When the grace that falls like rain is washing them again
Just a chance to somehow rise above this land
Where the God of second chance
Will pick them up and he'll let them dance
Through a world that is not kind And all this time, they're sharing with the one
Will pick them up and he'll let them dance
Through a world that is not kind And all this time, they're sharing with the one
That holds them up when they come undone
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And once again, here you stand
And once again, here you stand
Your day has come
Beneath the storm, beneath the sun
And once again, here you stand
And once again, here you stand
Your day has come
I will always remember you as the happiest bride I've ever seen! Love you! Congratulations and good luck on decades to come!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour teeth that day? They had to revise the white scale your teeth were so white. Bleach hid in shame that day because of your teeth. So did great white sharks. Crest wanted to rename white strips to Erin-White Strips, but their truth-in-advertising attorneys wouldn't allow it. Your invitation should have included instructions to "bring your own welder's mask." St. Peter had to redirect souls that day saying "No! Wait! The light is over here! Those are just Erin's teeth!"
ReplyDeleteAnd you were gorgeous...A ragamuffin that cleaned up really, really well! Happy Anniversary!
That was a special day and I would have traveled from anywhere in the world to stand beside you that day and watch you marry Brooks. Love you both. Still.
