What about mom?

This is an exercise I heard about from one of my favorite radio stations. It was fun to see how my kids see me.

I asked each of my kids the following questions separate from one another so they couldn't hear the other's answers. It is funny how similar some of their answers were and on which questions they were alike.

The answers are not edited.

Yes, we apparently need to work on grammar. 

What is something mom always says to you?
B: I love you.

What makes mom happy?
B: Smiling.
A: Whenever everybody is around and they are playing with her.
S: I be good.

What makes mom sad?
B: When she misses work.
A: Whenever we are not around and she is all lonely.
S: I be bad.

How does your mom make you laugh?
B: Tickle me.
A: By doing funny jokes and when she dance funny.
S: She do funny things.


What was your mom like as a child?
B: Playing.
A: Like me. Her could do a lot of gymnastics and ballet.
S: Her was a baby.

How old is your mom?
B: 23
A: 32
S: 22

How tall is your mom?
B: 10 pounds
A: 70 feet
S: Big

What is her favorite thing to do?
B: To work.
A: Lots of things: wrapping birthday presents, going shopping, play games with us.
S: Clean.

B: Work.

S: Her be sad.

B: Because, she's a star.
A: The rock star of the world.
S: For be happy.

What is your mom really good at?
B: Work.
A: Working.

B: Gymnastics.

S: At falling. (*Betsy would agree!)

What does your mom do for a job?
B: Help people workout.

B: When she does a good job on work days.

B: Play card games.
A: We go shopping for birthday presents.

B: We have different eyes.
A: We don't have the same clothes.
S: We don't have the same clothes on.

How do you know your mom loves you?
B: Because she hugs me.
A: Because her hugs and kisses us.
S: Her always gives us kisses when we go to bed.

What does your mom like most about your dad?
B: He is handsome.
A: He loves her.
S: He be nice to her.

Where is your mom's favorite place to go?
B: Sportsclub

(mis)Adventures of the Tooth Fairy

Brody lost a tooth two days ago. Now he is missing 3 of his 4 front teeth (one has already been replaced by an adult tooth). Just two months ago the dentist told me he needed those teeth out. They are now all out and it didn't cost me a dime.

The Tooth Fairy on the other hand has been busy visiting our house often. She brought $0.25 for tooth #1 and #2 and $1.25 for #3??

See the tooth fairy at our house is cheep. You only get $0.25 per tooth. That's it. The Tooth Fairy is not paying for work which will inevitably happen despite the effort you put in. Therefore, $0.25 is more than fair. On tooth #3, the tooth fairy left a quarter as usual.

The morning following the loss of his 3rd tooth, I was awaken to screams of delight as Brody found $1.25 next to his bed. I then overheard him explain to his sisters it must have fallen on the floor in the middle of the night.

I later explained to Brooks, as he was looking at me very curiously with eyes that said "WHY ON EARTH did the Tooth Fairy give him a WHOLE DOLLAR and a quarter?!?," the Tooth Fairy in fact did NOT give him a whole dollar. The dollar was on the floor next to the bed the night before when he went to sleep. He had received it earlier that day and had not put it in his piggy bank. The Tooth Fairy was receiving credit for being SUPER kind and giving!

YEAH Tooth Fairy!

Except now, tooth #4 has come out, and there is an expectation of $1.25 for the tooth.

So, yesterday morning when Brody awoke he found a note in addition to his quarter. I guess the Tooth Fairy wanted to make sure the expectations would remain the same for future teeth.

I am not sure how all this works, but in an effort to communicate the fun and exciting things of our lives with those who live a few miles to oceans away. . .here I go.

Only our Addy! 

Addyson had her first gymnastics competition on Saturday. She placed 1st on vault, bars, and floor. She placed 2nd on beam and 1st All-Around. We were really proud of her!

Only our Addy could place FIRST in a competition but have to be consoled for 45 mins because she didn't get the score she wanted on vault. Vault. Please note above. She WON on vault. We could not get her calmed down and explain although she didn't like her score. . .she still won.

This is after she fell apart crying hysterically at the competition when the wrong score was displayed for her floor routine. Not her coaches, (gymnastics) big sister, memaw, mom or dad could calm her. Finally she calmed down. Then hours latter the wailing started about the vault when she was looking over her scores.

What are we going to do when she loses? 

A bridge we will cross wash away with tears one day soon. I'll let you know how that goes.

Sadie-Mae

Sadie's still sucking her thumb and getting over a tummy bug. Doesn't slow her down! 

She has also figured out how to stay home from school by playing the "I don't feel good" card. 

Game on Little One. Game on!

Brody Man

Brody is loving his dirt bike. Wish we had more space for him to ride more frequently. He does so well when he is on his bike. He is focused and concentrates better than any other time.    Hopefully we will have space for him sooner than later.

He is still rocking his verses in Awanas. The child's ability to memorize is crazy! Now that he can read, it is only increasing his retention of everything from fact to fiction (which I'm not sure he knows isn't true) to verses.

The Rest of Us

Brooks and I are surviving. He is back into school full time in addition to working. Keeps him very busy. 

We are looking at the possibility of moving back to land. It would be nice to have a bigger area where the kids can play and roam. And I want goats. And chickens. And dogs. But there is a lot we have to do in order to make that happen, including finding the amount of land we would like in a very specific area. Finishing our involuntary renovation from the Great Flood. Selling our house. In all our spare time.

We all have dreams. Here's to making them reality.
